# Where can I find the document type on a general journal line?

## You want to check the document type when investigating a journal posting error.

**Note:** This FAQ uses the POS365 Manager role and English page names. If your screen looks different, follow [Access the POS365 UI (user interface) Manager role in Business Central](https://help.posone365.com/pos365/access-the-pos365-user-interface-in-business-central?hsLang=en). Changing the language to English is optional, but makes it easier to follow this FAQ.

**Answer:**

1. Select the **Search** icon in the top bar, enter **General Journals**, and select the matching result under **Go to Pages and Tasks**.
2. Check **Batch Name** at the top of the page and make sure you are viewing the batch relevant to your issue.
3. Find the relevant journal line.
4. Check **Document Type** on the left-hand side of the table, between **VAT Date** and **Document No.**.

Do not assume the batch opened by default contains the relevant POS365 line. You do not need to change the document type or post the journal to inspect it.
