# Set up Extra Fields for POS365

## This guide explains how to create an Extra Field, connect it to a Business Central field, and add it to an entity in POS365.

**Note:** Extra Fields let you add additional fields to POS365 entities and map their values to corresponding fields in Business Central. For example, you can add an additional field when creating customers in POS365.

**Part 1:**

Create and configure an Extra Field

**Step 1:** Create an Extra Field

![](https://help.posone365.com/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Oct-02-2026-07-01-05-4404-AM.png?width=670&height=332&name=undefined-Oct-02-2026-07-01-05-4404-AM.png)

1. Select **Setup** in the Admin Center.
2. Select **Extra Fields** from the menu.
3. Click **Create**.

**Step 2:**

Configure the Extra Field

![](https://help.posone365.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-02-2026-07-07-04-9727-AM.png?width=670&height=332&name=image-png-Oct-02-2026-07-07-04-9727-AM.png)

 1\) Complete the following fields:

- - **Number:** Enter a unique ID for the Extra Field.
    - **Type:** Select the data type that matches the corresponding field in Business Central.
    - **ERP Field ID:** Enter the ID of the corresponding field in Business Central.
    - **Name:** Enter the name that should be displayed on the POS.

Use the following table when selecting **Type**:

| Type | Select this when the field contains |
| --- | --- |
| **DateTime** | A date and time |
| **Date** | A date only |
| **Time** | A time only |
| **Guid** | A unique identifier |
| **Boolean** | A true or false value |
| **Int** | A whole number |
| **Decimal** | A number that can contain decimals |
| **String** | A single line of text |
| **MultiLine** | Multiple lines of text |

**Note:** The selected **Type** must match the type of value that POS365 sends to the corresponding Business Central field.

See the screenshot below for the location of the ERP Field ID in Business Central:

**Note:** To open **Page Inspection** in Business Central, open the relevant page and press **Ctrl + Alt + F1**. The Page Inspection pane opens on the right side of the screen.

**Note:** Only editable fields in Business Central can receive values from POS365. If the Business Central field uses a dropdown list, the value entered in POS365 must exactly match one of the available dropdown options; otherwise, the value cannot be transferred.

2\) Click **Save**.

**Part 2:**

Add the Extra Feld to an entity on POS365

**Note:** Extra Fields can currently only be used with POS365 entities that communicate directly with Business Central. This currently limits the feature to **Customers**, **Sales Orders**, and **Sales Quotes**.

**Step 1:**

![](https://help.posone365.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-02-2026-07-26-26-1480-AM.png?width=670&height=332&name=image-png-Oct-02-2026-07-26-26-1480-AM.png)

1. Select **Setup** in the Admin Center.
2. Select **Entities** from the Admin Center menu.
3. Open the entity where the Extra Field should be available, such as **Customers**.

**Step 2:**

1. Ensure that the **ERP Table ID** is entered on the entity.
2. Add the Extra Field you created.
3. Click **Save**.

See the screenshot below for the location of the ERP Table ID in Business Central:

**Note:** To open **Page Inspection** in Business Central, open the relevant page and press **Ctrl + Alt + F1**. The Page Inspection pane opens on the right side of the screen.

**Result:**

When the setup is complete, restart POS365. The Extra Field will then appear at the bottom of the selected entity.
