Set up a Verifone P400 card terminal
This guide shows how to connect and configure a Verifone P400 card terminal with POS365.
This guide shows how to connect and configure a Verifone P400 card terminal with POS365. The goal is to ensure the terminal communicates correctly with the POS and can process payments.
Step 1:
Find the IP address of the POS computer. This IP address will be entered on the terminal so it knows which POS device it should communicate with.
For more information, see here:
Find the POS computer IP address
1) On the POS computer, open the Windows search bar.
2) Type 'cmd' and open 'Command Prompt'.
3) Type 'ipconfig' and press Enter.
4) Locate the value called 'IPv4 Address'.
5) Note the IP address, as it will be used when configuring the terminal.
Note:
The IP address must be entered exactly as shown. The terminal will use this address to communicate with the POS system.
Step 2:
Connect the Verifone P400 terminal to the same network as the POS computer. This ensures the terminal can reach the POS once the configuration is completed.
For more information, see here:
Connect the terminal to the network
1) Connect the ethernet cable to the terminal dongle.
2) Insert the cable into the port labeled 'ETH'.
3) Connect the other end of the ethernet cable to your network router or switch.
4) Ensure the POS computer and the terminal are connected to the same network.
Note:
If the terminal and POS are on different networks, the POS will not be able to communicate with the terminal.
Step 3:
Configure the POS IP address and the ECR port on the terminal. This allows the terminal to connect to the POS and exchange payment information.
For more information, see here:
