Here is a possible error checklist for 2D barcode readers.

  • Check if the cables are connected to and from the barcode reader.
    • The barcode reader functions via a USB cable from the computer to the reader; please ensure that this cable is connected correctly to both the computer and the reader.
  • Try to put the reader in a different USB port on the computer.
    • Sometimes, it can be a faulty USB port on the computer.
  • Make sure that the readers are set up correctly.
    • The settings on a barcode reader can be altered to behave in certain ways. Often, this is altered by scanning the corresponding barcode/QR code in the barcode reader's manual. This should be "Keyboard (HID)".
  • Restart your computer.
    • In some cases, a reboot of the computer is necessary to clear the data stream from the USB port.

Note:

* POS365 expects the read to end with a return /Enter tab. Make sure this is selected in the setup code.
